It depends on your orders timeline, your finances, and how confident you are in the neighborhood. A two-year or longer tour with stable BAH and clear must-haves often favors buying. A short or uncertain tour, or a need for time on the ground, often favors renting first.

Layton, Clearfield, and Roy are typically inside 10 minutes of the gates. Syracuse, Kaysville, and Riverdale fall in the 10 to 20 minute band. Ogden and South Weber are closer to 20 to 30 minutes. Your actual gate matters, since Hill has more than one.
